THIS AGREEMENT CONSISTS
OF INFORMATION PAGE & 2 PAGES OF TERMS & CONDITIONS
CARING
FOR YOUR CAT/KITTEN
FROM
"PURRS-OF-LUV
CATTERY"
·
My kitties are CFA
registered and you will receive a blue CFA registration application as long as
your kitty was altered prior to leaving. If your kitty was not altered prior to
leaving, you will receive a photocopy of the blue slip and the original will be
mailed to you after the kitty is altered AND PROOF OF THE ALTERING IS PROVIDED.
NO EXCEPTIONS. For pet kittens only!
·
Kitties should
absolutely NOT be given any cows
milk at any time (not even watered down) this will cause diarrhea which could
lead to dehydration and/or intestinal upset for your kitty. Goats milk is ok to
give as a treat occasionally.
·
Persian Himalayan
kitties MAY have respiratory
problems due to the smaller nasal passages in the breed. I can offer some tips
on alleviating problems or caring properly for these problems, if your kitty
shows any signs.
·
The kitties at
Purrs-of-Luv cattery are being feed Iams Kitten & Iams Hairball
cat/kitten food mixed together and should continue eating this food when he/she leave for her/his new home. I also
am feeding canned, wet food once a day. I only feed chicken or turkey
canned food, as this is the most agreeable for their tiny tummies. Some kitties
get tummy aches, diarrhea, loss of weight, unhappiness and so much more could
happen with any diet change from the original diet they have been fed. If you
wish to change their food from Iams to another food, please only do
so after advising myself or your vet **NOTE-
A lot of times a veterinarian will suggest a food they sell in their office and
these prices are usually much higher than another quality food from a
pet store, price shopping is suggested so you can continue to feed your new
kitty quality foods. If you want to change your kitties food, please mix ½ new
food and ½ old food together for at least a week.
·
It has been
proven that some types of water (well, city) contains small amount of Giardia
bacteria which to cats can cause diarrhea. Therefore, I HIGHLY suggest giving your new kitty bottled spring
water only.
·
I use Fresh Step cat litter (scoopable) for my kitties and
it has worked very well in odor control with proper scooping and empting. If
you decide not to use Fresh Step and the kitten starts peeing on things or any
other bad habit this could be because they don't like the litter that you
switched them to and should be switched back to Fresh Step. Kitties can be as
fussy as humans can be sometimes.
·
The Persian Himalayan
breed is known for their long, beautiful, free-flowing coat. To keep the coat
in the best possible condition the coat MUST BE
combed at least once a day with a grooming COMB only. You can purchase the
grooming comb, that I recommend, from me for a charge of 10.00 per comb OR
please ask where these combs can be purchased from. They are not available in
pet stores, unfortunately.
·
Another suggestion
is to bathe your cat/kitten at least once every few months, this will help keep
the coat clean and more manageable by removing dead fur and oils. Your kitty
may not like it, but for both you and your kitty you will spend less time
grooming and dematting, and more time cuddling with your kitty. You can use any
kitty shampoo from a pet store, but my suggestion is using a tear-free product to
protect their eyes in case some gets in the eyes accidently.
·
After bathing,
your kitty should be towel dried by patting the excess water from the coat, DO
NOT towel dry in a rough manner, as this just tangles the hair, causing
frustration when trying to dry the kitty. It is best to use a hair dryer that
is as quiet as possible so it doesn’t frighten your kitty. Dry hair by using
your hands in an uplifting manner, drying roots first, ends last. You should
only use the comb when the coat is almost dry, use your hands/ fingers to
separate any fur that is together. PLEASE be sure the temperature of the dryer
isn’t too cool or too hot, a warm setting is best. After the coat is completely
dry use the cool setting and go over the coat again, this will help close the
cuticle to prevent coat damage. Now give your kitty a little treat.
·
Your kitty may
have eye drainage due to the small nasal passages. You will need to wipe
his/her eyes at least once a day to prevent staining. I put some water in a
container with a few drops of baby shampoo and wipe his/her eyes with this and round cotton cosmetic
pads found in the cosmetic dept. I also suggest to buy a small bottle of
moisturizing eye drops in case you notice your new kitty squinting or rubbing
his/her eyes. Himmies will occasionally get dry eyes and a quick drop in each
eye will be refreshing. I also use the eye drops to flush out the eye if there
is something in the kitty’s eye. Water with a few drops of Baby shampoo works
well too.
This information is a
reference guide to keep your kitty happy and healthy in their new home. If any
of the above items are changed (food/milk/litter) you COULD
experience an unhappy kitten in MANY
ways, I hope you don't have to experience. I love my kitties with all my heart
from the day they were born until the day they leave my home and into their new
homes. I expect each kitten to be treated the same way it was while living here
and you should have a long-time happy, healthy kitty.
